Empowerment Journey: Moving Beyond the Wound
Acknowledging and Claiming our "Victim" Experiences
Without being Defined by Them
Judgment and blame are heaped on victims in our society.
Victimhood has become loaded with doubt, denial, shame, and secrecy.
Imagine overhearing someone say: "She's such a victim."
What tone does it have? Is there any compassion there?
But what is a victim, really?
The dictionary describes a victim as "a person harmed, injured, or killed as a result of a crime, accident, or other event or action."
Nowhere in that definition is the victim blamed for what happened. Yet we wonder what the person did to deserve such treatment.
Isn't it time to change that, especially if the story is about you?
We've all had experiences that have hurt us--I know I've had more than my fair share. As a healer, I serve my clients masterfully, with highly developed skills and techniques, but there was a time when I was more mute than gifted.
I grew up keeping secrets. My entire childhood was spent making other people safe at my own expense. I thought that in order to be a good girl, I needed to behave as if other people were more important than I was.
I did this so well that I began to believe it. I squashed my own needs whenever they didn't jive with what others were giving me. And my victimhood continued, first from perpetrators and then from myself as the shame grabbed hold and I was rewarded for keeping quiet.
My story is very different now, but it's taken a lot of time and effort to rewrite it. And along the way, I've fallen in love with the ongoing process of healing. I've made transformation my life's work, because as I uncovered those secret places inside of me, there were moments when I could clearly see the depth of my hurt. That was when I allowed myself to feel and express shock, anger, and despair. That was when I had someone to comfort me, to encourage me, and to give me information that helped me see myself as normal and whole.
Now I have the honor of serving as the comforter, encourager, and educator. Are you ready to experience that kind of life-changing adventure?
I don't have secrets anymore. Can you imagine what that feels like? And I've developed a philosophy of life that enables me to absorb the pain of difficult experiences without losing faith in the world or in myself. On the contrary, I am fascinated by life! My life is an adventure every single day, and I worry less and less. Join me in this group so that you can find more enjoyment in telling your stories. It's a lot of fun to survive and thrive when you have people to witness and support you in positive ways.
Isn't this a great time to try something new?
The truth is that there is really no secret worth keeping, if it makes you feel bad when you think of it. The cost of protecting others is too high. Your confidence, your vitality, your Life Purpose all deserve to be expressed!
What secrets are you keeping that are protecting everyone but you? What story are you telling over and over as a way of armoring yourself? Does your victim story read like "poor me?" or does it show its flipside and declare "I will never be vulnerable again?"
Remember, being a victim of a scammer or an abuser isn't what hurts us the most. What causes the deepest pain is feeling powerless. Being muted. Missing opportunities to shine, because we're too afraid of being hurt again.
Yes, there are different degrees of hurt. Some things take more time, and more work than others to heal. Sometimes it feels like we will never get out from under it, that there is no hope for personal power. But there are things we can do to step out from under this umbrella of shame and guilt. There are tools we can use to move through victimhood cleanly.
If this speaks to you or to someone you care about, I want you to join me in my upcoming online group, "Empowerment Journey: Moving Beyond the Wound."
In this 3-month exploration, we will gently and safely explore:
Join me in this new approach to an old, outdated story!

- Why people can feel challenged to move out of their limiting stories on their own
- What we can do to change our self-image, to move forward with more peace, power, and purpose
- Cutting-edge techniques that allow us to heal safely, gently, and at our own pace

Why am I Offering this Group? This topic calls to me because I've been a victim. I've experienced the consequences of these experiences. I've also been able to let go of the resistance that was keeping me stuck, and step into empowerment and self-appreciation in big, big ways. The tricky truth is that my deepest healing has come when I've accepted my vulnerability; when I've felt safe enough to surrender to that state, just for a moment. Being able to fully feel those powerless feelings while being awesomely supported by others, has brought me compassion and freedom. I want to share that experience with you. I want you to feel safe enough to surrender to the facts of your life. It only takes a moment, and then the power slips in! Your story will never sound the same again. |
